Pomelos are one of those bitter sweet fruits that is amazingly addictive. Its a pain in the butt to open it, that's why I call it "a fruit of labor." Here's how to prepare it:
Here is a freshly bought Camelo from the Asian market. Mom said to pick one that's the most yellow and weighs the most. The color indicates the ripeness and the weight indicates how juicy it is.
After washing it, slice the skin into four sections. Don't go too deep but deep enough to peel off the skin.
Then peel off each section. Growing up my family used to say "you're as thick skin as a pomelo!" lol
After peeling the four pieces, get ready to peel the inner squishy skin.
After getting rid of 2lbs of skin, you're almost at the meaty part of the fruit.
Split it in half and its ready to be indulge!
Guess who got to enjoy the fruit of labor!
